Huludao city is located in the west of Liaoning province, which is adjacent to Jinzhou in the east, meets Qinhuangdao in the west and near Liaodong Bay in the Bohai Sea in the south. It forms an economic circle around the Bohai Sea with cities such as Dalian, Yingkou, Qinhuangdao, Yantai, etc.. It is the western starting point of Liaoning coastal economic belt. It is known as "the first city outside Shanhaiguan and the back garden of Beijing", which is the hometown of Yang Liwei, China’s first astronaut. With a total area of 104,000 square kilometers and a population of 2.85 million, it has jurisdiction over one city, two counties and three districts. There are four provincial development zones and six key supporting areas in Liaoning province.
